The latest round of Beer Store closures includes another location in northern Ontario.

With convenience and grocery stores now allowed to sell alcohol, the Beer Store has been closing locations across the province.

It announced another seven closures Tuesday, including a store in South River, which will cease operating Nov. 16.

“Selling beer and collecting empties in Ontario is changing as part of marketplace expansion,” Ozzie Ahmed, the company’s vice-president of retail, said in the release.

“We know this is difficult news for consumers, recyclers and our employees … The Beer Store recognizes the contributions our employees make to the business and in the communities where we operate. All efforts will be made to support employees through this process in alignment with commitments and agreements.”
