3 charged in northwestern Ont. drug trafficking investigation

Ontario Province Police said officers had commenced a drug trafficking investigation in Kenora during the spring of 2026.

“The OPP is committed to public safety across Ontario,” police said in a news release.

Arrests, seizure

At about 3:30 p.m. local time on June 2, OPP arrested and charged three people as a result of the investigation.

Police said the investigation led to the seizure of an undisclosed amount of fentanyl, hydromorphone and methamphetamines, along with cash, cellphones and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

3 charged

A 53-year-old local woman was charged with three drug trafficking offences, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order.

A 32-year-old woman from Washagamis Bay First Nation was charged with two drug trafficking offences and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Both women are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

A 31-year-old man from Rat Portage First Nation was charged with drug possession.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 13.

Police used the incident to encourage the public to report suspicious activity to police by calling 911 in emergencies or through non-emergency channels. Those who wish to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers.
