A Timmins man is planning a merrier Christmas after winning a six-figure prize in a local hospital foundation’s monthly draw. Krish Homagain is the winner of the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation’s November 50/50, taking home a jackpot of $132,758. Winner learned news after missing call “We tried to do a video of our call, but Krish was in a meeting and could not pick up,” the foundation said in a news release. When Homagain returned the call, he learned he had won. The foundation discovered he is a registered professional forester who moved to Timmins from Thunder Bay about 11 years ago. Longtime supporter The foundation said that Homagain has been supporting the monthly draw for some time and was aware of its purpose – understanding that the other half of the jackpot was used to purchase medical equipment for Timmins and District Hospital. “We are all winners,” Homagain said to the foundation. Plans for a family celebration Homagain was eager to share the news with his family after receiving the call from the foundation. He told foundation officials he was excited to get off the phone to call his wife, Binda. The couple has three children, all of whom are living away but will be returning home for Christmas. “He said that this Christmas was going to be a good one this year and thanked us many times for calling him with this amazing news,” said the foundation. “Congratulations Krish, Binda and family!” said the foundation, concluding its release.
