Quebec could see up to 10 cm of snow as Christmas approaches

About 10 centimetres of snow is expected to hit many regions of Quebec on Wednesday morning.

The snowy, white blanket could complicate travel in some areas for Christmas.

The system is set to first touch down in the Outaouais and Abitibi-Témiscamingue regions on Tuesday morning.

Between five and 10 cm of snow is expected throughout the day.

In the Greater Montreal area, snow should start by midday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

The agency is forecasting accumulation of two to four cm during the day, followed by five cm in the evening and overnight.

In Quebec City, the snow is set to arrive in the late afternoon, with accumulations of five cm during the evening and overnight.

The system is also expected to affect the Saguenay region starting Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday, leaving behind just two cm of snow, according to ECCC.

For its part, Météomédia notes that temperatures should remain below freezing as the system passes through the province.

Road conditions may be extra tricky, especially towards the end of the day on Tuesday.
