Two men suffering from serious injuries were found early Thursday morning by police in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Montreal police (SPVM) could not elaborate on the circumstances leading up to the injuries or if a weapon was involved. According to Florence Stafford, a spokesperson with the SPVM, patrol officers located one man at 5:05 a.m. on Notre-Dame Street near Liébert Street “suffering from serious injuries to his upper body.” “[His identity] remains unknown at this time,” she said. “He was transported to hospital, and we are waiting on an update on his condition.” Shortly after, at 5:25 a.m., police were alerted to the presence of an injured individual inside a home about a block away on Frédéric Chopin Street near Notre-Dame Street. “The man, aged 45, also had injuries to the upper body,” said Stafford. He was transported to hospital, and his life is not considered to be in danger. Two security perimeters have been established to allow investigators to analyze the scenes.
