The woman who was allegedly pushed off a balcony on the third floor of a Montreal building on Thursday morning has died. The victim, a 31-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries in hospital, Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed Monday evening. It is the first homicide of 2026, police said. A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was charged with aggravated assault on Friday. The SPVM was called to the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough around 8:15 a.m. Thursday, where they found the victim on the ground on Ste-Catherine Street near Jeanne-d’Arc Avenue. According to the SPVM’s initial information, an altercation between the woman and the suspect escalated on the balcony before he allegedly pushed her off the third floor.
