A 54-year-old man was arrested after a woman was found with “multiple wounds” that may have been caused by a sharp object on Thursday, Montreal police (SPVM) said. The SPVM is calling it an attempted murder in the context of intimate partner violence. Police say that multiple 911 calls at around 11:50 a.m. on Thursday reported an altercation in a residence on Saint-Kevin Avenue near Legare Street in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood near Saint-Mary’s Hospital. Police arrived to find the injured 35-year-old woman, who was conscious and breathing when transported to the hospital. Medical authorities later confirmed that her condition was stable in hospital. The man was located, arrested, and taken to an investigation centre. He is expected to appear in court on Friday. Investigators are now trying to determine the causes and circumstances that led to the woman’s injuries.
