The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) is searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough. According to initial witness accounts, the driver of a car was travelling eastbound on Goyer Street, near Darlington Avenue, when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road at around 12:50 a.m., without stopping to assist him. “The death of the pedestrian, a 52-year-old man, was confirmed at the scene by Urgences-santé,” said SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture. “Specialist collision investigators will need to examine the scene, interview various witnesses and check whether any surveillance cameras may have captured the incident.” The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
