Severe thunderstorms in the forecast for southern Quebec

Environment Canada has issued a warning about severe thunderstorms south and east of Montreal on Tuesday afternoon and early evening.

The southern part of the province is particularly at risk, according to the federal agency. “This afternoon, conditions will be conducive to the formation of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong gusts, large hail, and heavy rain,” the agency stated.

Areas under alert include Drummondville, Coaticook, Granby, Brome-Missisquoi, Lac-Mégantic, Mont Orford, Sherbrooke, Victoriaville, and Thetford Mines.

Eastern Quebec could also experience powerful thunderstorms.The weather agency warns people to secure loose objects and stay indoors during a storm.
