Quebec provincial police are investigating after two children fell out of the trunk of a moving car north of Montreal and one of them was injured. Police say they were called on Sunday morning to St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que., where they found an SUV driven by a woman in her 40s, with another woman of a similar age as a passenger. They say it appears that five children between the ages of eight and 12 had been riding in the trunk when the rear hatch opened and two of them fell out. One child was taken to hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening. Officers questioned the driver, who was then released. Police spokesperson Nancy Fournier says it’s too soon to say whether the driver could face charges. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 8, 2026.
