Quebec man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend facing new charges

A Montreal-area private trainer accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend allegedly assaulted another woman on the same day, according to court records.

Last week, Laury Choinière alleged that her ex-boyfriend, Yan-Phillipe Leduc, 27, assaulted her on Dec. 30 at his apartment in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore. He was arrested at the scene and charged with assault by choking, assault causing bodily harm, breach of conditions and forcible confinement.

Choinière's mother shared photos of her daughter's bruised and swollen face on social media last week, writing in a post that she barely recognized her daughter after the injuries.

A charge sheet alleges Leduc also assaulted complainant Sabryna Germain on Dec. 30 in Brossard, Que. He is also accused of assaulting Germain between Aug. 6 and 13, 2023, and between July 1 and Dec. 30, 2023.

Leduc was set to appear at a bail hearing Wednesday, but the case was postponed to Jan. 25 at the Brossard courthouse, according to Noovo Info.
