The Lac St. Louis Hockey Association has decided to suspend a Pee Wee AAA hockey coach for the rest of the season after complaints by parents that he forced his players to do punitive pushups.

Parents complained about Louis Isabella’s training tactic following the team's loss on Sept.18.

Following the game, Isabella forced his players to do hundreds of pushups as punishment. Pee Wee AAA hockey is considered the elite division for young players – the team is often seen as a stepping stone for talented children who want to make it as professional hockey players.

Some of the players were as young as 11, and a few missed school the next day. The coach later said he didn't order more than 100 pushups, and said it was part of a normal training session.

The decision to suspend the coach over the incident was made Wednesday night by a disciplinary committee and parents were notified on Thursday.

Isabella will be allowed to coach again next season.

Isabella has refused an interview and the Lac St. Louis Hockey Association will also not go on record about the decision.
