One dead and two injured in collision on Highway 50 near Mirabel

One person was killed and two others were injured in a collision on Saturday on Highway 50 near Mirabel in the Laurentians.

The accident occurred shortly before 4:45 p.m. when a motorist travelling westbound struck a heavy vehicle travelling in the opposite direction while attempting to pass on the left, according to information from the Sûreté du Québec.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders, and two others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The SQ confirmed that a total of three vehicles were involved in the collision, including two cars and a heavy vehicle.

The SQ reported that the accident caused a “spill,” but did not specify what substance was involved.
