This weekend marks the third anniversary of a devastating earthquake in Haiti that killed 300,000 people and left one million homeless.

Dan Shannon has written and directed a documentary, Haiti Untold, about the aftermath and the rebuilding efforts.

"My vantage point to this film really is that my wife and now co-director on this film at the time was working for World Vision, and her job was such that she was flown in within 24 hours," said Shannon.

Three years on, Shannon feels that rebuilding Haiti will take a generation.

"The rate of rubble removal is very quick given the circumstances. It may not look like that because of how widespread the damage was, but if you can do it in sheer amount of trucks coming out and buildings and neighbourhoods being restored, there is a lot of progress on the ground. Just not seen necessarily on the news," said Shannon.
