More than 90 firefighters on scene at building fire in Montreal

An abandoned three-storey building in Montreal's NDG neighbourhood caught fire on Sept. 14, 2025.

Firefighters are actively attempting to put out a building fire in Montreal’s NDG nieghbourhood.

Fire trucks responded to the fire at 9:05 a.m. on Sunday after smoke began billowing out of a three-storey residential building on Elmhurst Avenue near Harley Avenue.

The building was unoccupied and had no gas or electricity hooked up, according to Montreal fire department (SIM) spokesperson Émilie Barbeau-Charlebois

Just after 10 a.m., the SIM issued a third alarm, and more than 90 firefighters were on the scene as of 11:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and the adjacent building was evacuated as a precaution.
