Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after an 18-year-old man was shot and killed in the Ville-Marie borough early Sunday morning. The SPVM says officers received a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. reporting that a person was injured in an apartment on Saint-André Street near Ontario Street. When officers arrived, they found the victim unconscious on the floor with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. “We’re trying to determine the circumstances that led to at least one gunshot,” said police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. “We’re confirming that it was murder.” It is the SPVM’s third homicide investigation of 2026. A security perimeter was established so investigators could analyze the scene, and officers will be reviewing surveillance footage from the area. The motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and no arrests have been made.
