The search for a teenager who fell through the ice in Rivière-des-Prairies entered its third day Saturday as Montreal police (SPVM) continued their efforts. On Thursday afternoon, two teens, aged 17 and 18, were walking on the icy surface of the river in the Ile Bizard—Sainte-Geneviève borough when the ice gave way, and they fell through. The 17-year-old was pulled from the river and transported to hospital conscious. Police said his life was not in danger. The 18-year-old has not been located after being swept away by the current. SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said the Marine Unit will be carrying out checks in the river, trying to locate the young man. Divers will also be deployed in the morning to search the area. Cégep Gérald-Godin confirmed that the young man still missing was one of its students. The schools said measures were being put in place to support their student community and staff.
