Montreal police arson squad investigating fire at downtown restaurant

The Montreal police (SPVM) arson squad is investigating after an “incendiary device” was found after a restaurant fire downtown.

Police responded to a 911 call at 1:55 a.m. about a fire at the Yoko Luna restaurant on de la Montagne Street near Sainte-Catherine Street West.

“When police arrived on scene a minor fire was underway,” said spokesperson Florence Stafford.

The fire was contained quickly, and there were no injuries.

Police say suspects fled the scene, possibly in a vehicle, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage of the scene.

There was minor damage to the business.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
