The threat of tariffs is causing concern across the country but it’s also been boosting Canadian pride. In Montreal, it’s on display in all kinds of ways. Fairmount Bagel’s latest creation is a red-and-white “Canada’s bagel.” And at a depanneur in Rosemont, there’s no American products in sight. Owner Karine Martel says only two per cent of their products are Canadian; the rest is all Quebec-made. But is the surge in interest in buying Canadian a fad or will it last?
