Residents across southwestern Ontario are being urged to take precautions as a heat event continues Wednesday, with daytime temperatures expected to reach between 30 C and 32 C and humidex values approaching 40. Environment and Climate Change Canada says overnight temperatures will remain elevated, ranging from 20 C to 23 C, providing little relief from the heat. The heat warning is expected to continue through Wednesday and could persist into Thursday in parts of extreme southwestern Ontario, including Windsor and Essex County, although forecasters say confidence in an extension remains low. Windsor is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud Wednesday, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms. The daytime high is expected to reach 32 C, with a humidex of 42. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Wednesday evening, with rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm possible. The overnight low is forecast at 22 C. Thursday’s forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies with a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and a risk of thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to reach 30 C, with a humidex of 38. Conditions are expected to improve heading into the weekend. Friday is forecast to bring a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 28 C. Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 27 C.
