Léger poll again finds nearly half of Montrealers undecided before Montreal election

Polling stations to be set up at universities and CEGEPs.

Almost half of Montrealers remain undecided about who to vote for in the upcoming municipal elections, according to a new Léger poll.

If the election were held today, 20 per cent of voters said they would choose Ensemble Montréal’s Soraya Martinez Ferrada.

She is followed by Projet Montréal’s Luc Rabouin at 11 per cent, Transition Montréal’s Craig Sauvé at six per cent, Action Montréal’s Gilbert Thibodeau at five per cent, and Futur Montréal’s Jean-François Kacou at two per cent.

The undecided rate currently stands at 48 per cent. Still, a majority of Montrealers — 67 per cent — say they are interested in the election.

The survey, conducted from Sept. 15 to 21, also found housing and property ownership have emerged as the top issues for voters, at 45 per cent, reflecting growing concerns about availability and affordability. The second most important issue is combatting homelessness and improving access to social housing.

Traffic congestion and construction site management ranked third among voter concerns.

As for the current administration, 60 per cent of respondents said they are dissatisfied with the work done by Valérie Plante’s team. Those satisfied with Projet Montréal’s performance stood at 31 per cent.
