On Jan. 20, 1961, CFCF TV hit the airwaves for the very first time. For the past six-and-a-half decades, the names and faces have changed -- from CFCF to Pulse to CTV News Montreal -- but the mission has always been the same. “We still deliver the information that people need to know,” said anchor Mutsumi Takahashi. “We try to inform, engage, entertain, and we just hope that it all comes together.” Watch the video above for more sights and sounds from the past 65 years of news. From the first black-and-white images to crisp Ultra HD, much has changed both on screen and behind the scenes. “I think what’s changed is the speed in which we gather and deliver the news,” said Takahashi. “It’s just so fast. What used to take hours can just take minutes, and there’s just so much more information.”
