Fire in Marieville, Que., apartment building leaves two dead and one injured

Two people are dead and one is injured following an apartment building fire in Marieville, Que., east of Montreal.

Emergency services were called to the four-unit building on Ste-Marie Street at about 2:30 a.m.

Provincial police Sgt. Laurie Avoine says a woman in her twenties was found unconscious in the building and was pronounced dead in hospital. 

Avoine says a man in his twenties was declared dead at the scene.

She says a woman evacuated from the building was transported to hospital and her life is not in danger.

Avoine says it’s too early to determine the cause of the fire.
