Drivers in Montreal’s east end on Friday afternoon may have spotted fiery objects in the sky. According to the Montreal fire department (SIM), those objects, spotted around 3:40 p.m. near the Metropolitan Expressway (A-20), were pyrotechnics. “Someone called for smoke on the roof of a building, and when the firefighters arrived on the scene it was pyrotechnics that were shot and damaged the roof,” said SIM fire chief Eric Lafrance. Lafrance said there was a bit of smoke but no major damage to the roof, and the fire did not spread.
