A toddler was rushed to hospital Thursday night after a car struck a stroller in Ville-St-Laurent, Montreal police say. At around 7:45 p.m., Montreal police received several 911 calls reporting a collision between a car and a stroller near the intersection of Montpellier Boulevard and Muir Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 20-month-old victim with serious upper-body injuries. The child was conscious and breathing while being sent to hospital, said Johany Charland, a police spokesperson. The driver of the car was not injured, but was treated by paramedics for nervous shock. According to police, the driver was heading north on Montpellier near Muir Street as the toddler’s mother and aunt were crossing the street. “It was at that moment that the vehicle reportedly struck the stroller,” said Charland. Police have set up a perimeter at the scene of the collision and are speaking to witnesses to gather more information.
