Canadiens’ annual golf tournament to take place Sept. 15 in Laval-sur-le-Lac

The Montreal Canadiens’ annual golf tournament, which kicks off the team’s season, will take place on Sept. 15 at the Laval-sur-le-Lac golf club.

The Habs organization made the announcement in a news release on Thursday morning.

This is the 49th edition of this event benefiting the Canadiens Children’s Foundation.

But first, the Bleu-blanc-rouge rookies will participate in the Face-à-Face des espoirs, a competition that will take place on Sept. 13 and 14 at the Bell Centre against the rookies of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets.

The start date of the Habs’ official training camp is not yet known.

However, the Canadiens will play their first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sept. 22 and will begin their regular season on Oct. 8 against the Maple Leafs in Toronto.

Head coach Martin St-Louis’s men finished fifth in the Atlantic Division with a 40-31-11 record last season and were defeated in five games in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs by the Washington Capitals.
