York Regional Police has confirmed it will lead the criminal investigation involving Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis. The investigation was launched after a local journalist filed a complaint concerning Davis’s private consulting business and the hiring practices of police service staff. Davis is currently suspended with pay while a separate workplace harassment complaint against him is being investigated. York Regional Police have not said what allegations are being examined or provided a timeline for the investigation.
