Workers continued to rally outside the shuttered Ingersoll CAMI plant for day two of a three-day strike. Unifor leaders joined the demonstration alongside workers in the rainy weather, rallying for the 1,200 unionized jobs are at risk. “We want to make sure that General Motors, the provincial government, the federal government knows that we are fighting for every job right now. Obviously, we are at the heart of a trade war. It’s having that impact on the industrial economy of Canada, but at the heart of that economy are working people, and they’re the ones feeling the pain at the moment, so we aren’t going anywhere,” said Lana Payne, Unifor National President. The rally was organized after General Motors announced the end of production of BrightDrop electric delivery van. “We are going to keep fighting. We are going to keep fighting for these jobs and keep fighting for this plant,” said Payne.
