Violent assault after home invasion in St. Thomas

Early Tuesday morning, police say they responded to multiple calls on Elm Street.

Arriving at 4:20 a.m., police found a damaged front door of a residence forced open, with the house empty.

The resident of the home was located shortly after, reporting a violent assault after the front door was forced open.

Police found and arrested the suspect, who they say is 55-year-old St. Thomas resident known to the victim.

The suspect has been charged with break and enter, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
