U.S. citizen charged with stunt driving on Highway 401

A U.S. citizen had to find another way home after allegedly stunt driving on Highway 401 in Oxford County over the weekend.

According to a social media post from OPP West Region, on April 18 a driver from the U.S. was stopped by police after being clocked in at 152 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 401.

Police say the driver had to make alternative arrangements to get home as they were unable to drive their business vehicle back.

In Ontario, stunt drivers face a vehicle impoundment of 14 days and a licence suspension of 30 days.

“It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from, if you are stunt driving in Oxford County the vehicle you are driving will be impounded, at your expense, and your driver’s licence will be suspended for 30 days,” police said. “Speeding is not worth the cost.”
