Thames Valley District School Board lawyer resigns

Ali Chahbar’s resignation was announced by the board’s education director in an email to staff on Tuesday.

After being on the board since 2018, he’s “pursuing other opportunities,” the email says.

Chahbar had left the board following a spending scandal, when top officials spent tens of thousands of dollars on a weekend retreat in Toronto.

The provincial government had since appointed a supervisor to oversee the board, as it deals with a ballooning multi-million dollar deficit.
