Standoff in Woodstock leads to assault and forcible confinement charges

Woodstock police have laid assault and forcible confinement charges after a standoff in the city.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, police were called to a home on Norwich Avenue for a disturbance. When they arrived on scene to check on the wellbeing of those in the home, officers said one occupant in the home didn’t cooperate and didn’t let police in to check on everyone’s safety.

They said attempts were made to make contact, eventually learning occupants had minor injuries inside due to a fight at the home.

A 57-year-old man surrendered to police and is now facing charges for assault and forcible confinement.
