Stabbing victim in hospital, suspect detained by witnesses: Owen Sound police

A woman is recovering from serious but non-life threatening injuries after a stabbing in Owen Sound, according to police.

Around 3:15 p.m. Monday, police responded to the area of 2nd Avenue East near 9th Street West for reports of assault with a weapon.

When they arrived, officers found a female victim suffering from apparent stab and slash wounds. She was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police also said a 22-year-old man was being detained by witnesses at the scene and was then placed under arrest without incident, and a knife was seized.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
