SIU investigating circumstances of a crash in Ingersoll

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate in relation to an incident that took place in Ingersoll this weekend.

According to police, Oxford County OPP officers attempted a traffic stop around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the westbound lane of Highway 401. The driver allegedly failed to stop for police and fled the scene.

A short time later, police said they received a report of a single vehicle collision on Canterbury Street in Ingersoll.

The driver was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP has notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.
