More than 3,000 people were expected to take in Western University’s Science Rendezvous event on Saturday. “We’re just here to inspire everyone to learn more about science, or pursue science as a career in the future, or get to know a little bit more, and try to discover more things around them,” said faculty organizer Faraj Haddad. The event is the seventh annual for Western, and it’s being held in conjunction with 19 other science festivals across the country. “There’s a lot of activities. What we try to do is to make them hands-on. So, everyone’s going to be able to get their hands on some experiments, some new equipment,” said Haddad. The Rendezvous features more than 40 interactive science exhibits. Faculty members, scientists, and Western Students are guiding the activities. Haddad said it’s important to introduce science at a young age. “Even this smallest little experience as a kid can get them kind of excited and inspired. It’s very important to spark their motivation, spark their curiosity,” he explained.
