Rain and freezing rain in the forecast for southern Ontario

CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison brings you the latest London area forecast as temperatures hover around freezing.

The London region has periods of rain as we head into the latter half of the day.

Temperatures are on the mild side in London, Chatham and Sarnia toward Windsor, but as we move east toward Toronto, as the rain arrives, the temperatures will be dropping near the freezing mark and that has led to a freezing rain warning.

“So if you are traveling east of London, please be aware Brant County, Waterloo, Guelph area that includes Hamilton, Burlington, Mississauga, Peel, Toronto, and just along that northeastern shoreline of Lake Ontario,” said CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison.

London will see that rain taper off this evening, but light drizzle will continue with fog developing tonight and into tomorrow morning.

“As we take you out 48 hours, you can see the rainfall still over the area through the late evening and then overnight overcast conditions. We’ll have a cloudy Friday on the way. Friday evening We have the chance for some light rainfall with the possibility of some thunderstorms,” said Atchison.

Thursday: Cloudy. 40 per cent chance of drizzle early this afternoon. Periods of rain beginning this afternoon. Amount 5 to 10 mm. High plus 4.

Thursday Night: Periods of rain ending this evening then cloudy with 40 percent chance of drizzle. Fog patches developing this evening. Amount 5 mm. Low plus 1.

Friday: Cloudy. 30 per cent chance of drizzle in the morning. Fog patches dissipating in the morning. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h late in the afternoon. High 8.

Saturday: Showers. Windy. High 15.

Sunday: Clearing. Windy. High 10.

Monday: Sunny. High 15.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of showers. High 10.
