Possible ‘rain on the way’ for Saturday’s Santa Claus Parade

Rain is a possibility looking ahead to Saturday's Santa Claus Parade. CTV London's Julie Atchison breaks down the forecast.

London’s Santa Claus Parade might be scheduled for this weekend, but the forecast for Saturday will be anything but holly jolly with possible rainfall in the evening.

According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, sunshine will kick off the day Friday before giving way to cloudy skies with sunny breaks.

The main thing to keep in mind is a wind chill of – 5 as people head out the door Friday morning, but Atchison says “we’ll recover quite nicely” as the daytime high hits 7 C with light winds expected in the afternoon.

“We have a weather system moving in for Saturday with some rain on the way,” Atchison said.

Atchison says the exact timing of Saturday’s rainfall isn’t clear, but showers will develop in southern Ontario heading into the latter half of the day.

While the daytime high will reach 13C, Saturday’s forecast could put a damper on London’s Santa Claus Parade, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. that night.

“If that rain comes in a bit earlier in the day, we should likely see some showers through the evening,” Atchison says.

Saturday: Cloudy. High 13.

Sunday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 8C.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 7C.

Tuesday: Cloudy. High 5C.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 7C.
