Persons of interest sought in traffic complaint investigation

Police have released images of three persons of interest they allege drove recklessly while operating off-road vehicles in Lambton County early this month.

According to a news release, Lambton OPP received a traffic complaint involving four-wheeler and dirt bike riders driving carelessly, racing and performing stunts near Beckwith Street in Corunna on March 8 at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Investigators are seeking public assistance to identify the person(s) of interest involved.

Lambton OPP are reminding riders that all off-road vehicles must be registered, display a licence plate and be insured under a motor vehicle liability policy.

In addition, drivers are reminded that when operating an off-road vehicle:

• Always ride according to the trail, road and weather conditions
• Use extreme caution when turning, crossing, climbing and descending hills
• Drive sober, as being impaired by alcohol or drugs is illegal
• Ride in designated areas only
• Respect the environment and keep noise levels low
• Review Ontario Regulation 316/03 for a complete list of provincial highways where off-road vehicles are permitted as well as prohibited

If there is no bylaw for a municipality, OPP say drivers can check whether it is listed under Ontario Regulation 8/03 for municipal roadways off-road vehicles are permitted.
