Person in custody after report of possible gunshots prompts ‘hold and secure’ at area schools

Police say one person is in custody after officers responded to reports of possible gunshots on Baseline Road on Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the 100-block of Baseline Road shortly after 8:10 a.m. Following the report, police took precautionary measures, including temporarily closing nearby roads and placing area schools under a hold-and-secure order.

Police said a person inside a home in the area was taken into custody. No injuries were reported, and investigators say there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Road closures have since been lifted and schools have returned to normal operations.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and officers are working to determine whether the initial reports of gunfire were accurate. Further details will be released if charges are laid.
