‘Our goal is simple: to keep our roads safe’: OPP safety blitz in Sarnia

Lambton OPP say they’ve laid almost two dozen charges against commercial truck drivers during a recent blitz dubbed ‘Operation Safe Approach.’

Police say 16 large truck inspections were carried out on the 402 in Sarnia last week, catching drivers as they headed to the Blue Water Bridge.

They say three trucks were taken off the road.

According to police, they found equipment malfunctions, moving violations, and false log entries.

“Operation Safe Approach is not just about enforcement; it is about protecting lives,” said Interim Detachment Commander, Inspector Ross Stuart, Lambton OPP. “By working closely with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, we can identify unsafe practices, hold drivers accountable, and provide education that helps prevent serious collisions.”

He continued, “Our goal is simple: to keep our roads safe for everyone who travels them.”
