A 49-year-old man has been identified as the victim after a head-on collision on Highway 21 south of Port Elgin. South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police say officers were called to the scene around 5:23 p.m. Tuesday, along with fire and paramedics. The crash involved a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle. Police say the driver of the SUV suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital, with injuries that have not yet been determined. South Bruce OPP, along with the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, are continuing to investigate what led up to the collision. Highway 21 was closed for several hours but has since been reopened. Investigators are asking anyone who lives or works in the area — as well as drivers who were travelling along the highway — to check security cameras or dashcams. Police say they are looking for any footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicles involved.
