Oktoberfest party is on for 93rd year at German Canadian club in London, Ont.

The German Canadian Club in London says its annual Oktoberfest is always a cause for celebration in the fall.

With hundreds expected to take in the party at the club off Cove Road in south London organizers are ready to party this weekend.

“We expect and super good Oktoberfest this year with lots of energy,” said Friedhelm Hoffman, one of the organizers. “Of course, one of the big attractions is the German food, like schnitzel, sausage and pork hocks.”

Beer and music are also a big attraction at the festival.

“There’s a huge music component and we have a large dance floor for people to enjoy themselves,” says Mike Marienwald, another organizer.

This is the fourth year a large white tent has been set up outside, and Hoffman says they have something for everyone adding, “It’s not just about drinking it’s about bring the whole community together to socialize.”

Tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday nights as well as the children and family afternoon line-up on Saturday.

“It’s about the German culture and it’s about getting everyone together,” said Marienwald. “You know in Canada and the States we have Thanksgiving, and this is the German Thanksgiving and we celebrate a little different by inviting everyone to our party.”
