Mission Services wants Londoners to scan away hunger

CTV London’s Nick Paparella with the kickoff to the Mission Services Scan Away Hunger Campaign.

For its 31st year Mission Services of London is asking our community to give.

This season they would like shoppers to add $4.49 to their grocery bill to buy a meal for someone in need.

“All of the donations from the Scan Away Hunger campaign go to Mission Services emergency shelters and addition treatment centres,” explains Jessica Gowers, from Mission Services of London.

During the six-week campaign they are hoping to collect more than $200,000.

“When you donate, you are walking along with us and helping men, women, and children who are experiencing homelessness,” said Gowers.

This time around donations can be made at four London locations including, Remark on Oxford Street West, Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer on Wortley Road, Drew’s Your Independent Grocer on Oxford Street East or at the Mission Services Store on York Street.

“More and more people are helping by donating to the campaign online,” said Gowers.

The Scan Away Hunger campaign is on now until Dec. 17.
