A standoff in southeast London has come to an end with a man taken into police custody. Neighbours reported officers arrived at the northern exit of Silverdale Crescent and Frontenac Road shortly after 6:30 a.m. CTV News witnessed heavily armed tactical officers with a canine unit approach a residence. Uniformed officers blocked several streets and a nearby walkway. After repeatedly calling for a person to exit the home, officers took a man into custody shortly after 10:00 a.m. Police have said they were initially called to check the welfare of an individual whom they determined had barricaded himself inside the home. Parents reported that nearby Glen Cairn Public School was briefly locked down, but students were seen entering the school from alternate routes. There are no reported injuries.
