Movers and shakers in Canada’s railway industry are descending on Edmonton for a two-day event beginning Thursday. National Railway Day 2026, hosted Thursday and Friday by the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS), will bring leaders, suppliers and stakeholders together at The Westin Edmonton downtown. The City of Edmonton is helping promote the event, with Mayor Andrew Knack proclaiming Friday as civic National Railway Day. Thursday begins with a morning technical tour hosted by CPKC, followed by CARS meetings in the afternoon. The event’s 46 exhibitors will begin setting up Thursday evening ahead of Friday’s trade show, which opens at 11 a.m. Friday morning will feature breakfast and presentations from speakers including Alberta Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen and several industry leaders. The non-profit CARS represents more than 155 companies that provide essential products and services to railways and transit systems in Canada and around the world. Following the trade show, CARS will cap off the event with an awards dinner and reception beginning at 6 p.m.
