Londoners can expect more road closures starting this week

The intersection of Second Street and Oxford Street will be closed starting Sept. 22, for phase four of the East London Link.

While construction is underway, local traffic and pedestrian access will remain for impacted businesses.

The city asks drivers to follow detour routes: the Oxford Street detour is rerouted to Highbury Avenue to Huron Street to Clarke Road and the Second Street detour takes Cheapside Street to Third Street to Dundas Street.

Weather permitting, construction will be completed by Oct. 3. Drivers are asked to plan ahead for trips using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps.

Some transit routes will be impacted by the construction, with the LTC bus entrance and exit blocked on Oxford Street.

The city warns of additional delays regarding picket lines at the Cheapside and Fanshawe College Boulevard entrance amidst the ongoing Fanshawe College strike.
