London, Ont., native Shaedon Sharpe will miss the start of the NBA season and likely several months beyond after reportedly suffering a serious knee injury during an off-season workout. Multiple reports say the Portland Trail Blazers guard tore the meniscus in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined for about six months. The 23-year-old was coming off a strong season in Portland, averaging more than 20 points per game. However, Sharpe also missed a significant stretch last season while recovering from a stress fracture in his lower leg. The injury is another setback for the former first-round draft pick as he looks to build on his emergence as one of the Trail Blazers’ key offensive players.
