London Knights announce 54th captain

Sam O'Reilly had a goal and an assist, and Leafs' prospect Easton Cowan had two assists as the London Knights won their second game at the Memorial tournament beating Moose Jaw Monday night. With the win, London guaranteed a semi-final berth.

In a vote by his teammates, Sam O’Reilly has been named the London Knights’ 54th captain for the 2025-2026 leadership group, the Knights announced Wednesday.

The Toronto native has been with the OHL since the 2022-2023 season.

He was the 37th pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection and was drafted in the first round for the Edmonton Oilers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. His NHL rights were moved when he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning this summer.

Last season, O’Reilly scored 28 goals and 71 points in 62 games.

“It’s a privilege and honour to be named captain of the London Knights,” said O’Reilly. “I’m humbled by the opportunity and ready to lead my teammates as we work toward another winning season.”

Alternate captains Henry Brzustewicz and Jared Woolley will work alongside him.

The Knights play their next game at home against the Ottawa 67’s.
