The London Knights have traded Sam O’Reilly and Jared Woolley to the Kitchener Rangers. “Sam and Jared are competitors and proven winners. They helped bring London two OHL Championships and a Memorial Cup during their time here and that is something our organization and fans will remember forever. These two young men gave everything they had as a London Knight and we’ll look forward to watching their professional hockey careers in the future,” said Vice President and General Manager Mark Hunter. O’Reilly, the Knights’ captain, who just returned from representing Team Canada at the World Juniors tournament, has been with London since the 2022-23 season. In his time with the Knights, he racked up 60 goals and 95 assists. O’Reilly was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the 2024 NHL entry draft, and was traded to Tampa Bay. Jared Woolley, with the Knights since the 2023-24 season, contributed on the blue line with 24 goals and 26 assists. Woolley was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. In two separate trades, London will get Jacob Xu and Kane Barch from the Rangers. Xu, 17, has seven points (one goal, six assists) in 31 games with Kitchener this season. The Richmond Hill native was assigned a ‘C’ rating by NHL Central Scouting, indicating a potential fourth/fifth round selection in next summer’s NHL Entry Draft. Barch, 16, was drafted in the first round, 22nd overall by the Rangers in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection. The Plano, Texas native has spent the season with the U.S. National Development Team Program where he’s recorded 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 32 games.
