Knights salvage northern road trip with victory in Sault Ste. Marie

A three-goal lead was enough of a cushion to allow the London Knights to hold off a late charge by the Soo Greyhounds in a 4-3 win on Saturday.

On a night where Londoner Jeff Carter was honoured with a jersey retirement in Sault Ste. Marie, his hometown team spoiled the party.

Ben Wilmott and Evan Van Gorp each had a goal and an assist as the Knights salvaged one game on a northern road trip which included losses in North Bay and Sudbury.

Braidy Wassilyn continues his goal scoring barrage since being acquired by London. He scored again to give him nine goals in 12 games since joining the Knights in a trade for Noah Read.

London held a 4-1 lead early in the third period, before surrendering two goals.

Knights’ goaltender Alexei Medvedev made 21 stops on 24 shots for the victory.

After going 1-2 on the trip, the Knights (4th in Western Conference) have fallen out of top spot in the Midwest Division as they now trail the Owen Sound Attack by one point.
